19.10.07 - General Update

Paul has changed agents. His new agent is now the redoubtable John Jarrold.

A German publisher has bought the rights to the Sea Beggars series, and is publishing them as limited edition luxury editions, fully illustrated and leather bound. The illustrations are stunning full colour original paintings.

Work proceeds on The Ten Thousand. As soon as is practicable (and OK with the publisher!) an extract will be posted up on the site.

Publication of the omnibus edition of The Monarchies of God will be delayed slightly, as the US publishers are hanging on to the rights of the last two books (illegally). A bureaucratic snafu, but nothing serious.

26.07.06 - New Website Launches

The more observant among you will have noticed that things have finally changed around here!

Yes, www.paulkearneyonline.com is back in business, with a new look, a new layout, and up-to-date information on Paul's latest series The Sea Beggars.

The site has all the usual features, and we'll be launching a forum to let you folks discuss the finer points of Bionese military strategy and the correct method of rigging a sloop (or other stuff if you like...) to your hearts' content. (And for those you you with a long memory as well as keen observation skills, this time we really do mean it... watch this space.)

If you have any questions, comments or suggestions for improvement that are specifically to do with the website, please do send them by email to admin [at] paulkearneyonline [dot] com. Don't forget to replace the bits in square brackets with the appropriate characters when you write (apologies for the inconvenience, but we've got to try to keep those spammers' email-harvesters at bay as much as we can...)

Well then, thanks for stopping by, and enjoy your visit to the site!

04.07.06 - This Forsaken Earth - out now in trade paperback format

The second installment in the Sea Beggars series has just hit the bookstores in the UK, folks, with the US edition set to follow in November 2006.

Continuing the adventures of Rol Cortishane - pirate, assassin and something else - as he travels with an old acquaintance to the Empire of Bionar, all at the behest of a certain lady rebel leader intent on the overthrow of the current regime; This Forsaken Earth is another dose of sea-salt drenched adventure, dark sorcery and blood-soaked battlefields.

You can read the synopsis of the book over on the Bibliography page of the site, or if you'd rather jump straight into the action, you can read an extract and try before you buy.

02.07.06 - This Forsaken Earth reviewed on SFFWorld.com

The rather excellent magazine / resource website SFFWorld.com is running a review of This Forsaken Earth.

Reviewer Owen Jones says: "As with The Mark of Ran, the tone of this second novel is gritty, mysterious and dark. A decaying world filled with myths and legends is an ideal setting that evokes a great many compelling images of piracy and fable..."

And Owen's comments about the pace of the action are duly noted! Paul commented: "Well, if it's more blood and fighting, mystery and intrigue that the readers want, we'll have to see what I can deliver for volume three..."
